Shermandell Morgans
In Memory...

You could say Shermandell Morgans began with death. When my first ever foal, Shermandell Charis, died at the age of seven months from complications following colic surgery, it didn't even occur to me to be put off. Her death cemented my certainty that breeding Morgans was part of what I was meant to do. Death often heralds new beginnings, opens a door on a brand new phase of life and growth. I like to think Charis did that for me, and am deeply grateful to her for it.

I know that nothing real ever truly dies, and nothing is ever wasted. And however much I would like to own these horses, I am really just a caretaker, like a parent for a child. In the end, the child has their own needs, desires, purpose, which will be fulfilled, both with me and without me.

So I humbly thank these Shermandell Morgans who have died for sharing their lives and loves with me, however briefly. For inspiring me, teaching me, putting up with me, loving me. You are not forgotten, never that. And I look forward to when we meet again.
